Hello! My name is Jason

It is hard to describe exactly what I do since I kind of do a bit of everything. I normally say that I am a digital designer (which is pretty broad) but it covers most of the things I do.

I studied at the University of Hull for 3 Years on an Undergraduate Course in Digital Design. My main focus professionally has been on Web Design, Graphic Design and 3D Design. One of my favourite parts of being a designer is that I get to work on a variety of different projects with tons of different people. It’s always fresh and exciting!

What else can I tell you…

I am a little bit of a coffee obsessive, I fell deep into the ‘speciality coffee’ rabbit whole a couple years ago. It started out as a drink but it has kind of turned into more of a hobby. I run an Instagram page dedicated to coffee in my spare time called @jasonmakescoffee which you can read more about this here. This has now changed to focus on some other hobbies I have such as getting outdoors, cooking and travelling.

Another hobby of mine is 3D Printing. 3D printing was a natural progression from my experience creating 3D models and assets as part of my job as a 3D artist. I love being able to solve problems that arise and quickly iterate on designs which is the magic of 3D Printing! I decided to start Jason Makes Stuff as an outlet to sell some of the designs I made for coffee and for other things too. I have really enjoyed designing physical products and seeing them make their way into the world! Most of my work has been focused on coffee goods and equipment but I sometimes stray further into different fields.

Qualifications & Experience

  • From 2017-2020 I studied Digital Design at the University of Hull. I graduated in 2020 with a first class. I gained a lot of foundational knowledge during my studies which have proven invaluable during my freelancing career.

  • Once I finished my degree I wanted to progress into industry and hone my skills further. I started at Lampada in 2020 and continue working there to date. My role as a 3D Artist mainly focuses on Asset and Artwork Creation for VR Projects. However, my responsibilities also include general design work outside of 3D including, Web Design, Graphics and Illustration.

  • I started freelancing during my time at University in order to advance my skills and learn more about the tools I use. I have worked on creating websites and branding for companies in the local area and continue to be available for these kind of projects.

  • I recently in the 2020 lockdown got deep into a new hobby and decided I wanted to share it with the world via social media. I started a new social account and set on my path to grow my audience and learn what makes social media tick. Just over a year later and my account is booming. I provide social media consultancy services to businesses that can help you to kick start your online growth and social media presence.
